Real nights. Real numbers.

Over £10 million raised for charitable causes. Here is what actually happened in the room, and where the money came from.

Guests celebrating at a charity fundraising evening

The number that matters is the one you bank.

Every case below shows where the money actually came from — not just the figure announced from the stage.

The Jigsaw Trust

Briefed for £14,000. The night raised £57,600.

Kevin was brought in to aim for £14,000 from the live auction. The auction alone raised £27,000 — nearly double the entire brief. Then a live pledge, run immediately afterwards while paddles were still in hands, brought in a further £30,600 — more than the auction itself. Paintings by children from the Jigsaw School raised another £4,000.

There was not one bought-in consignment lot in the room.

The pledge out-raised the auction. That is not luck — that is the mix.

Teenage Cancer Trust — for OCU Group

A £40,000 target. £84,108 on the night.

Kevin hosted and ran the auction, then delivered a live pledge alongside a representative from the charity — so the ask came with a real voice and a real story behind it, in the minutes straight after the bidding finished. The room more than doubled the target.

“Without your input and amazing hosting we definitely wouldn’t have achieved the total. We absolutely smashed our £40k target.” — Lisa, event chair

MS-UK

A live pledge that raised £8,300 — and kept it.

The year before Kevin was engaged, the charity’s silent auction was run by an outside company. It grossed £13,000. MS-UK received £1,300. Ten pence in the pound.

The following year, with Kevin as host and auctioneer, the outside lots were still present but no longer the centre of the evening — that auction grossed around £3,500. In their place sat a live pledge, designed into the night and delivered from the stage. It raised £8,300, and all of it went to the charity.

The pledge money did not appear from nowhere. It came from the same room and the same wallets. It was simply given as a gift instead of spent as a purchase.

Manchester Airport Group

A gala in an aircraft hangar beneath the wing of Concorde, 400+ guests, live music from Scouting for Girls — and three times the previous year’s total.

Temwa

A standard auction became a structured fundraising evening. A live pledge the organisers were nervous about connected the room to specific projects — and the night set a new record.

Spear Islington

Moving past the formal caution of previous years — the right stories at the right moments in the pledge, and their biggest fundraising total to date.

What these nights had in common

They planned the fundraising before the night, not on it. The lots were chosen and sequenced deliberately, a structured live pledge followed the auction while the room was at its warmest, and one person carried the energy from the welcome to the close.

None of them needed a catalogue of expensive bought-in lots to do it.
